Safe Parks Initiative

The Winthrop police have teamed up with CASA and the Winthrop Lodge of Elks to create the Safe Parks Initiative that will include five events this summer, the first of which was held last Friday evening with an Open Rec. program at the Walden St. basketball courts. 

Members of the Winthrop Police Department, CASA, and Winthrop Lodge of Elks, joining together to create the Safe Parks Initiative.

The funding for these events comes from the Shannon Community Safety Initiative Grant and the Elks’ Beacon Grant. The other four events are as follows:    

— July 29 at 7p.m.: GAzebo Movie Night Halloween in July;

— August 9 from 6-8 p.m.: Middle School Basketball Tournament at the Walden St. courts;

— August 31: CASA Mini-Gol

— September 8 from 5-8 p.m.: First Night of OPEN REC at the former Middle School. Go to (https://www.winthropcasa.org/) for more information.
