The Town of Winthrop will hold the Second Annual Hah Bah Day a celebration of Winthrop on Tuesday, June 11.
The festivities begin at 5 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting of the new boat launch and dock at the town landing. Attending will elected officials, including Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo and State Sen. Joseph Boncore, a representative of the governor’s office and Division of Fisheries and Wildlife.
At 6 p.m. the party gets underway with free food and drinks to the first few hundred people.
The musical guest will be the cover band Kill Me Rico performing from 6-8 p.m. on the stage at the Landing. Bring your own lawn chairs.
There will be a number of local artisians like Mary Runser, Richard Honan, the Winthrop Art Association, the Clock Tower Gallery, Winthrop Elks, Winthrop Parks and Recreation, For Kids Only, 21st Century, Winthrop Improvement and Historical Society (WIHA), several small proprietorships will have tables like Whynot Fishing, the Medical Reserve Corp (MRC) will be there, the Airport Hazards Committee. Friends of Belle Isle Marsh and Friends of Winthrop Beach are participating, so is the Cottage Park Yacht Club, and One Winthrop, Winthrop Mother’s Out Front. Also joining in is Boston Harbor Now and the Harbor City Church will be giving out free popcorn and cotton candy. Joining in also will be Spirits New England Paranormal and the Deane Winthrop House
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 5 Winthrop with also be making an announcement that June 11 will always be “Boat Safety Day†in Winthrop.
Bike Winthrop will have a booth and there will also be a bike ride starting 5:45 p.m. from the Town Landing for a bike ride around Deer Island and back to the Town Landing.
The Winthrop Ferry will also be hosting two free, 20 minute boat ride around the harbor one will depart at 7 p.m. and one will depart at 7:30 p.m. Each ride can hold up to 70 people.
