Independence Day Schedule

The annual Winthrop fireworks display is scheduled for Wednesday, July 4 at 9 p.m. The fireworks will be launched from Coughlin Playground in Point Shirley.

The annual Horribles Parade will begin at 9 a.m. on July 4. The parade will start at the public landing and end at Coughlin Playground. The parade will take its traditional route, and there will be events at Coughlin Playground at the conclusion.

No outdoor fires will be tolerated. All fires will be extinguished by the fire department.

There is no consumption of alcohol in a public area. Public intoxication will be dealt accordingly.

All Point Shirley residents hosting parties are asked to have their guests arrive early and park off street or in public lots.

Point Shirley will be closed to traffic around 6 p.m. on July 4.

No parking on the west side of Shirley Street from Bayview Avenue to Siren Street. Signs will be posted.

At the end of the fireworks, all cars will follow the loop back to Shirley Street and out of Point Shirley. No travel on Bayview back to Shirley.

Everyone is warned of delays getting to and from the Point Shirley area.
