It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Richelle DiFlumeri of Winthrop, Massachusetts on August 11, 2026.

Richelle was the adoring mother of Richard Butler and his wife, Jessica; the very proud and loving grandmother of Rocco Ace Butler; the dedicated and devoted daughter of the late Richard and Ann (Luongo) DiFlumeri; the delightful and adorable sister of Andrea, Carla and Vanessa DiFlumeri; the smiling and fun-loving auntie to Nicholas Aburn and his husband, Jake Wiseman; the dear and sweet auntie and Godmother to Amelia Aburn, and a cherished friend and “honorary” aunt to so many throughout her 71 years.

Richelle lived her life by and on the water. Having spent her entire life near the ocean, she found a special happiness there. She was a proud member and Secretary of the Pleasant Park Yacht Club, where she spent countless hours, made lifelong friendships and became part of a community that brought her great joy.

Richelle was blessed with the most beautiful big brown eyes, an amazing smile and infectious, hysterical laugh. As the third of four sisters, she learned at an early age that she had to speak up to be heard. And Richelle spoke up!

Once you knew Richelle, you remembered her. Her warmth, her smile, her humor and her genuine way of loving people made her unforgettable.

Richelle had a lifelong “thing” for Paul McCartney! She attended all of his performances in Massachusetts and even travelled to Florida to see him. Paul’s voice and his words brought her great joy and, at times, much-needed comfort. Her love of his music was one of those wonderful, unmistakably “Richelle things” that made her smile.

Let’s always remember Richelle this way; smiling, laughing, by the sea, surrounded by people she loved, cheering loudly and singing along with Paul McCartney and being the woman whose eyes and smile could light up a room.

In her 50’s Richelle fought and won her battle with bi-lateral breast cancer. This past year, she faced a devastating diagnosis of metastatic Stage IV lung cancer with the same fierce determination and courage. She fought hard, endured more than most people could ever know and never stopped being Richelle. On August 11, 2026, her body signaled that it was time to rest.

And in the end…..may the love Richelle gave surround her now as she is reunited with her mother, father and all the people she loved and missed.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 12 noon. Services will conclude with the interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.
