Trooper Dan Herman, left, and Lieutenant Bob Murphy of the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit were honored at the NCMEC Hero Awards in Washington, DC, last night for their work on the Baby Doe / Bella Bond case. Dan was the lead investigator and Bob is the team’s executive officer, his supervisor. Although it was a team effort in every sense, with every member of Suffolk SPDU taking part, and assisted by Suffolk prosecutors, Boston Police, NCMEC, members of the media, and especially the public, it’s an honor that these two truly deserved.
