Senate Race in Gear

Now that the Presidential primary has concluded, the town of Winthrop can devote all of its political attention to the State Senate race in the district — and it’s shaping up as a barnburner leading to the primary on April 12. All seven Democratic candidates, including attorney Joe Boncore of Winthrop, participated in a candidates’ forum Monday night in East Boston.

Boncore was well-received by the East Boston residents in the audience as he outlined his goals as a senator and the issues (opioid epidemic, transportation) that are confronting the state. Boncore opened a campaign headquarters in Revere Saturday and the event was well-attended.

With Primary Day five weeks hence, it will be about which candidate can get their message to the voters and who can get the voters to come to the polls for the special election. Joseph Boncore appears to be building momentum in the town and throughout the district and looms as a formidable candidate for the esteemed position of state senator.
