Winthrop Resident Trudy Macero Receives “Unsung Heroine” Award

Trudy Macero of Winthrop was recently honored as a member of the Massachusetts Commission on the  Status of Women’s 2014 class of Unsung Heroines in a ceremony at the State House. This distinction celebrates extraordinary women who perform acts of service, enhancing our communities on a daily basis.

“I am so pleased that the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women has chosen to honor Trudy Macero,” said House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo (D-Winthrop). “Leaders like Trudy are making this state a better setting to live, work and raise a family. We are lucky to have her in Winthrop where her dedication and spirit have positively affected so many individuals.”

Trudy is the founder and director of the Winthrop School of Performing Arts. In addition to dance, Trudy taught “Poetry in Motion” for many years. She is involved with the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce and served as President from 2006-2008.
