Winning Formula

Winthrop resident Gianna Famolare won top honors at the 16th annual Newton Country Day School Science Fair. Famolare took Second Place for her project “You Can’t Stop the Beat: The Effectsof Music on Exercise.” Her classmates were her test subjects. The freshmen ran a timed 2-K course, and on each test run listened to fast music, slow music, or no music. Her hypothesis that a runner who listens to fast music will increase her speed was proven accurate. On March 12, Famolare represented Newton Country Day at the Region V Massachusetts State Science and Engineering Fair at Bridgewater State College.
