Winthrop Community Health Forum a success

The Winthrop Community Health Forum, in memory of accomplished healthcare leader, Sandra Hurley, was held on October 21 at the Cummings School, sponsored by the Winthrop Foundation. Local health and wellness providers offered information about basic health issues such as dentistry, physical therapy, and elder services to concerns about homelessness and substance use disorder.

“We will continue to carry on her legacy of compassion, dedication, and love for the community,” said Jeanne Holgersen, President, Commonwealth Clinical Services, and Owner, Commonwealth Primary Care. “I know my mom’s looking down on us tonight with a big smile, proud of the wonderful people who continue to come together.”

Attendees enjoyed giveaways, refreshments and raffle prizes, and had the opportunity to receive free blood pressure screenings provided by Commonwealth Clinical Services, and flu and covid vaccinations provided by NeighborHealth.

“What makes small communities like Winthrop special is the people who make up the community. For decades, Sandra Hurley gave so much of herself to people in need. Her duty was to do all the good she could,” exclaimed Representative Jeff Turco. “She exemplified what it was to be a citizen who gave back. I’m honored to have called her a friend.”
