Five Stars – Extended Stay Hotel earns two major honors

Congratulations are in order for Joe and Peggy Dow, owners of the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel on Shirley Street, for receiving two major awards in the hospitality industry, a Platinum Award and the designation as “Best Inn” for the international hotel chain.

The hotel has certainly given Shirley Street a boost in its aesthetic appearance, beautifying an area of the town that was once so full of energy, but which has been decaying for generations.

The owners of the hotel credited Precinct 2 Councillor Linda Calla for her efforts and energy in helping to transform the beach section of town. Calla, whose extensive background in real estate has been a real plus in her work on the council, has outlined a long-term vision for Shirley Street and the neighborhood.

Having a beautiful and successful hotel, which could serve as an anchor for things to come, certainly is a boost to her plans for the future of the area.
