She will be remembered for her generosity, her humor and the way she made everyone feel welcome and loved

Mary Ellen Flannery Jacques was loved beyond measure. Her kindness, infectious laughter, and unmistakable spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Above all else, Mary Ellen loved her family. She leaves behind her daughters, Rachelle Jacques and her wife, Lynne Gallagher of Lowell and Kim Jacques and her fiancé, Ryan Murphy of Revere; and her beloved grandchildren, Hailey, Skylar, James and Genevieve. She also leaves behind her loving partner, John Llewellyn; her former husband, William Jacques of Winthrop; her brother, William Flannery and his wife, Cynthia of Swampscott; and countless nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and dear friends.

Mary Ellen was kind, hysterically funny, and wonderfully mischievous. She loved a good party, a good laugh, and making memories with the people around her. An active member of the Winthrop Elks, she found a wonderful community there and made many of her lifelong friends. She also loved to travel, explore new places, and enjoy life — preferably with a large glass of wine in hand.

Her family was her greatest joy, and she loved them more than anything. She will be remembered for her generosity, her humor, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and loved.

Mary Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Genevieve and Albert Flannery; her brother, Albert “Danny” Flannery; and her sister-in-law, Lorraine Carroll.

She leaves behind a family and an enormous circle of friends who will miss her more than words can express. In true Mary Ellen fashion, we imagine her already finding the party, pouring a glass of wine, and making sure everyone around her is having a good time.
