Ferrara Announces Candidacy for Re-Election

Special to the Transcript

WHA chairman Frank Ferrara has announced his intention to seek re-election. The following is his announcement:

“My name is Frank R. Ferrara, Sr. I am the current chairman of the Winthrop Housing Authority (WHA) board. I am seeking reelection to the Winthrop Housing Authority Board on November 7th.

During my tenure I have assisted the executive director in securing grants for sidewalks, roofing and porches for Overlook Drive, kitchens and baths in the family housing complex, along with consulting on the updating of the elevator at 9 Golden Drive by bringing it up to current state code. My background in construction and as a State Elevator Inspector has been valuable in seeing these projects through to completion.

My background includes 20 years with the Boston Building Department and 16 years with the Mass. Department of Public Safety as an Inspector, nine years with the Massachusetts National Guard as a sergeant assigned to a Nike Guided Missile Battery protecting the Northeast area.

I am a life member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks #1078. I was active in Winthrop youth sports and I am a lifetime resident of Winthrop.

I am a former member of the Boston Building Inspectors Association and State elevator Safety Association.

I am the son of former Winthrop Building Inspector A. Richard Ferrara and I am married to Ann (DiStefano) Ferrara. We have two children, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. I have the experience and knowledge ro retain this position on the Winthrop Housing Board.

I would appreciate your vote on the November 7 Town Election.
