WIHA Announces Plans for the 109th Strawberry Festival

 Special to the Transcript

The Winthrop Improvement & Historical Association (WIHA) is delighted to announce that the 109th Strawberry Festival will be held on Saturday, June 17th (raindate: June 18th). The festival’s hours are from 2-6 pm in the Deane Winthrop Gardens, 40 Shirley Street. The ticket price is $10.

The Strawberry Festival is a true Winthrop tradition dating back to 1912. In addition to serving our signature Strawberry Shortcake, this year’s festival will feature select Craft Beers from the Drop Zone Brewery and Strawberry Daiquiris.

Tours of the historic 375-year-old Deane Winthrop House will be available. There will be Strawberry Festival raffles, The Boston Scottish Fiddle Orchestra will provide live music, and there are fun activities available for the kids. It will be a great day!

Tickets are available at Webster First Federal Credit Union, the Winthrop Public Library, Shirley True Value Hardware, Woodside Ace Hardware, the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce, The Winthrop Book Depot and Café, Simon’s Winthrop Book Store, Salon Luxo, Swetts Liquors, The Meat Market, the E.B. Newton Clock Tower Gallery, and The Senior Center. For more information, please visit the official Winthrop Improvement & Historical Association Facebook page.

As always, special thanks go to our sponsors: Webster First Federal Credit Union for their loyalty and support; the Paul W. Marks Company for donating the wonderful strawberries and fresh cream; and the Winthrop Market Place for donating the delicious biscuits.
