On Wednesday, March 9, Winthrop’s Odd Fellows group donated and delivered more than 50 dinners for distribution to Winthrop Housing Authority veterans and neighbors. Geri Laura Gatchell and John Munson of the Odd Fellows Lodge worked with Veterans Service Director Roseann Trionfi-Mazzuchelli, and Mark and Chris Wallerce from Winthrop Marketplace to produce the meals that each consisted of a roasted chicken, a quart of milk, fruits and vegetables.
The Odd Fellows were joined by American Legion Post 146 representatives, Commander-Steve White, Al Bell and Bill Brown to help deliver the meals. After the meal were gone, members reflected on how simple and random acts of kindness restores everyone’s spirits. Special thanks goes to Oddfellows Zenith Lodge 42, Winthrop Marketplace, Veterans Service Director Roseann Trionfi-Mazzuchelli, and American Legion Post 146.
Odd Fellows Zenith Lodge intends to make the same food donation to the Winthrop Veterans living in Winthrop Housing every month on the second Wednesday of the month. The Zenith Lodge is committed to community outreach including charitable and educational assistance, award scholarships, support local charities, member benefits and assistance, provide social opportunities and hardship support. All inquiries should call (617) 846-9772. Our lodge is located at 196 Winthrop Street. New members and volunteers are always welcome to come join us.
