Frank Favale, Jr.

Worked as a MBTA bus driver

Frank A. Favale, Jr., 69, of Winthrop passed away at home on January 23.  Born in Boston, the beloved son of the late Jacqueline (Skinner) and Frank A. Favale, Sr., he grew up in East Boston before moving to Winthrop over 43 years ago. He enlisted in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged reaching the rank of SP4. After his discharge he went on to work as a bus driver for the MBTA.

He was the devoted husband of Rosemarie (Femino) and the loving father of Frank S. Favale and Renee L. Taylor, both of Winthrop; dear brother of Michael Favale of Florida; cherished grandfather of Damon, Takyra, Nasja, Devin and Devani and great grandfather of Natalie.

Services were private.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop.

Richard Carbone

Past Exalted Ruler and Honorary life member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks and lontime treasurer of Jeffries Yacht Club in East Boston

Richard C. Carbone of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, passed away at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on January 31. He was 80 years old.

Born in Boston, the beloved son of the late Jennie (Todisco) and Ralph Carbone, he resided in East Boston before moving to Winthrop over 17 years ago. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a manager at Logan Airport in the janitorial department. He was also the long-time treasurer at Jeffries Yacht Club in East Boston and a Past Exalted Ruler and Honorary Life Member at the Winthrop Lodge of Elks.

He was the devoted husband of Patricia (Frazier), the dear brother of Connie Carbone of East Boston and Carol Cooper and her late husband, Edwin of Saugus; cherished uncle of Robert, Michele C., Joe Jr., Denise, Michele F., Vincent, Monica, Brian and the late Michael; beloved brother-in-law of Billy and Diane Frazier, Lorraine and Steven Tear, the late Joseph and Helen Frazier and Paul and Barbara Frazier.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop today, Thursday, February 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, February 5 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10 a.m.. Services will conclude with interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.

*Attendees must wear a mask and observe social distancing in the funeral home, church and at the cemetery.

Barbara Siefert

November 10, 1921 — January 26, 2021

Barbara Harriet Siefert, a lifelong resident of Winthrop, peacefully passed away in her home on January 26..

The daughter of loving parents Myron and Emma (Wilson) Tewksbury, she was a graduate of  Winthrop High School, Class of 1939.

While raising her four boys, Barbara worked in the office of the Superintendent of Winthrop Public  Schools and later as Assistant to the Director of Public Safety at Massport where she retired  with over 20 years of service.

The joys of Barbara’s life were her children and grandchildren. Some of her fondest times were  summer days sailing with family and friends, swimming and watching the sun set over the bay  from her home on Court Road. Her passion for fitness was well known in town and around her  neighborhood where she could be seen on her morning walks.

Her many interests included the theater, reading, needlework and gardening.  As a member of  the Cottage Park Yacht Club, she enjoyed spending time with her many friends in the Ladies Bowling League. She was also a proud contributor to the World Wildlife Fund which reflected  her love for animals.

A strong and eloquent woman she lived her entire life with poise and empathy. She is survived by her sons, Peter (Deborah) and Jonathan (Jean); grandsons, Alec, Jackson and  William and granddaughter, Jessica. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman and  sons, Jeffrey and David.

Barbara’s family is so thankful and forever grateful to Patty Suprey who was like a daughter to  her. Patty’s companionship, thoughtfulness and kindness filled Barbara’s days with laughter and  her heart with love.

The family would also like to thank Sandra Hurley from Commonwealth Clinical Services in Winthrop  and her devoted staff who helped with Barbara’s care. A special thanks to Lisa Pacino-Leone and Cathy Constantino. Their compassion cannot be measured.  Due to Covid restrictions, a celebration of her long life will be held at a later date.

Edward Trevor

Telephone Company retiree

Edward J. Trevor, 95, passed away peacefully on January 31.

Born in Boston, the loving son of the late Margaret (Thornton) and Edward J. Trevor, he grew up in East Boston before moving to Winthrop over 65 years ago.

He enlisted in the United States Army during WWII reaching the rank of Sergeant. After his honorable discharge he went on to work for the telephone company as a line operator and went on to become a manager for the company.

He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Jacqueline E. (Maskell) and the loving father of Kim Sullivan of Winthrop, Steven Trevor of Tewksbury and John Trevor of Canada and the cherished grandfather of Alyse and Jennifer.
