On The Campaign Trail: Swope Seeks Re-Election To School Committee

Suzanne Swope, who was appointed to the Winthrop School Committee in February 2018, is seeking re-election to a full four-year term. The followiing is her announcement:

“First of all, I am grateful to my supporters who helped me obtain  hundreds of signatures to be on the November 5th ballot”, said Swope.

Second, I am seeking re-election because I am committed to making the system better, listening and acting on your suggestions about improvements, and accepting compliments and complaints that can help us in our efforts to instruct our students.

My broad goals for the upcoming years are to help maintain a safe  physical, emotional and social environment for our children, and to support requests for funding needed to create a premier school system.

In addition, I support the Superintendent’s and Teachers’ requests to maintain reasonable class sizes, to explore and obtain software and other classroom resources to enhance student learning, and to broaden and further integrate the curriculum among and between grades.

Lastly, I want to promote curriculum and co-curriculum activities that enrich student learning.  These include drama, sports, clubs that are student directed and so much more.

I hope to see you at the polls when you vote on Election Day, Nov. 5.” Suzanne Swope has a Doctorate in Education (EdD) from Boston  University, is a former Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs and a tenured faculty member at Emerson College, and is the proud grandmother of two young girls in the Winthrop Public Schools
