Fourth of July would not be the Fourth of July if not for the activities on Point Shirley.

The first event is the Prize-A-Rama Raffle which will be held Friday, June 29 at 7 p.m. at the Point Shirley Association Hall, 1032 Shirley St.

 

2018 Prize-A-Rama

Festivities for the 4th are gearing up!

The Prize-A-Rama Raffle will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Point Shirley Association Hall, 1032 Shirley St., Winthrop. What is a Prize-A-Rama you ask? It is an annual fundraising event hosted by The Point Shirley Association in conjunction with Horrible’s Parade Committee to benefit The Horrible’s Parade. Please help support the Horrible’s Parade by donating an item to be raffled-maybe that Yankee Swap gift from Christmas that just wasn’t your taste, gift cards, baskets of goodies, beverage baskets, summer fun items and the like.

Support this most beloved Winthrop event. Tickets are $1.00 a chance, If you are interested in donating items for the raffle, selling or purchasing raffle tickets, please contact Pat McGee at 617-846-0273.

 

The 136th Annual Horrible’s Parade

The parade kicks off Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 9 a.m. from the Winthrop Town Landing, 707 Shirley St., Registration for parade participants begins at 7 a.m. at the landing. Categories are Most Horrible, Most Original, Most Patriotic, Most Beautiful, Best Float & Most Hilarious with prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each! The parade route follows through Point Shirley and ends at Coughlin Park with free festivities for all ages. Celebrations with a DJ, leg races, pie eating contents, prizes for the parade contestants and decorated doll carriage contests are awarded. Everyone LOVES a Parade!
