Winthrop High School Drama Club has something to be proud of this week. The group was the recipient of multiple awards from their epic performances at the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild Competition last weekend in North Reading.
Acting Awards went to Ian Page and Allison Earl. Steven Tracy and Elizabeth Carsley were awarded with Music Composition and Chorus Ensemble. The Costume Design Award went to Izzy Regis and Sam Zichella and Nicole Lerner was awarded as Stage Manager. The group is moving on to the semi-finals in two weeks, which will be held on March 18 at Hamilton/Wenham Regional School. Winthrop will go on stage at 3:30 p.m.
“We’re very excited, we’re all really proud of the work we did,†said Carsley. “We adapted the script, wrote the music, designed the costumes, lights, and sound, and of course acted in it ourselves — so it was really rewarding to receive such good feedback from the judges! We’re all happy with our performance on Saturday and we’re looking forward to spending the next two weeks working with Mrs. Karen Calinda, Ms. Kimberly Lamping, and Mr. Steve Vieira to make it even better!â€
