Schooner ‘America’ Visits CPYC

As part of the America’s Cup Tour the schooner “America” (shown above) visited the Cottage Park Yacht Club in Winthrop on Tuesday providing tours to members.
The yacht is the replica of the original “America” that in 1851 stunned the world by winning the legendary sailing race around the Isle of Wight and now bears her name, The America’s Cup.
The yacht is 101 feet long with a beam of 22 feet and 10 inches and traveled to Winthrop from San Diego where it resides during the year. It took 25 days for the boat to travel to New York City by means of the Panama Canal.
