Winthrop Seeks Playoff Berth

We’re hoping that the Winthrop High football team can defeat Swampscott and somehow earn a spot in the MIAA state playoffs that get underway next week. With the return of some key players, head coach Sean Driscoll has his team playing its best football of the season and it would be nice to see how Winthrop matches up with some of the playoffs teams from other leagues.

Sean Driscoll acquired his coaching technique and style working on the staff of Hall of Fame coach Tony Fucillo — and just like Tony’s teams, Sean’s players give 100 percent and understand the tradition of Viking football. The Vikings have regrouped and now stand on the brink of possibly entering the playoffs.

We wish the Vikings good luck as they try to do their job and get the help from other teams that they need to reach the playoffs.
