Capobianco Takes Out Nomination Papers for School Committee Seat

Valentino Capobianco, former legislative aide to Speaker of the House Robert A. DeLeo, took out nomination papers at the offices of Town Clerk Carla Vitale Wednesday morning at Town Hall. Capobianco said he will be seeking a seat on the Winthrop School Committee in the election on Nov. 3.

Capobianco, 26, is a 2007 graduate of Winthrop High School where he served as class president in his junior and senior years. He graduated from Suffolk University with a degree in American Government.

Currently a member of the State Democratic Committee, Capobianco has been involved in political campaigns since his days as a high school student.

“My first involvement in politics was John Kerry’s campaign for President in 2004 when I was a sophomore,” said Capobianco.

After graduating from Suffolk in 2011, he began working as an aide in Speaker DeLeo’s Office.

“I’ve always been involved in the community and because I’m a fairly recent graduate of Winthrop High School, I think now is the right time in my life to give back to the community,” said Capobianco. “I’m really excited about the new school and the new possibilities.”

Capobianco feels his experience in Speaker DeLeo’s office sets a solid foundation for a position on the School Committee.

“I think my experience with the Legislature and the budget process will bring me unique experience to serve on the School Committee and work in that budget process,” said Capobianco.

Valentino is the son of James Capobianco and Valerie Dalton.
