She’s only been on the job a few weeks but the new head of the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has become very familiar with Winthrop Beach. Friday morning DCR head Carol Sanchez toured Winthrop Beach with Speaker of the House and Winthrop resident Robert DeLeo, Town Manager James McKenna, and other officials. When asked about all the rocks on the beach she pointed to Mother Nature. She said she would look into seeing what might be able to be done about the shifting of rocks and sand. She said the goal of the renourishment of the beach was to prevent flooding. There has been no flooding since the project.
