Superintendent of Schools John Macero has announced that there will be an Open House on Thursday, Aug. 28, from noon to 1 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m., at Winthrop High School, 151 Pauline St., site of the former Winthrop Middle School.
Students in grades 8 through 12 will be attending the school this year as the town begins construction of  a new middle/high school. Macero invites incoming students and their parents to take a tour of the school and see some of the changes to the building, including major renovations to the school gymnasium.
“We thank everyone for being patient and we are looking forward to a great year,†said Macero. Students in grades 4 through 7 will be attending the Cummings School. Students in pre-kindergarten through grade 3 will be attending the William P. Gorman/Fort Banks School. The school year begins on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
