Council to Meet On Tuesday

The Winthrop Town Council will resume its regular meeting schedule Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Joseph Harvey Room in Town Hall.

The Council last met in a special session July 30 to discuss its course of action relative to the expansion at Atlantis Marina.

The Council canceled its regularly scheduled Aug. 5 meeting to avoid a conflict with the National Night Out Celebration. Council President Peter Gill expects a busy agenda for Tuesday’s meeting.

With the Mass. Gaming Commission expected to make a decision on the area’s gaming license on Sept. 12 (Mohegan Sun/Suffolk Downs and Wynn Everett are the applicants) and the statewide referendum vote set for Nov. 4, the casino issue has been a hot topic during the public speaking portion of meetings.
