Parks and Rec Holds Opening For Summer

The arrival of summer was greeted with many kids who are excited about this year’s Parks and Rec program. The outdoors program opened at Ingleside Park on July 1st, and will continue throughout August. With many exhilarating activities, the kids of the Parks and Rec program are guaranteed to have a fun-filled summer.

Kids are encouraged to be active by playing tennis, street hockey, basketball, and even dodgeball at the park. Counselors help out by teaching kids how to play each sport, and even join in on the fun by playing along. Aside from playing sports, kids have also taken up their own games of tag, and playing on the playgrounds. Arts and crafts are also a big park of the Parks and Rec program. Many children enjoy making gimp bracelets, and the grounds of Ingleside were quickly decorated with many colorful chalk drawings. Arts and crafts allows children to express themselves and show their creativity, while allowing them to take home their new jewelry.

The fun does not end outside and rainy days are not a problem for Parks and Rec, as the program will meet in the air-conditioned hockey rink. There, kids can play on the highly-acclaimed moon bounce, even more arts and crafts, and watch movies.

In addition to spending time at the park, kids are also able to go on many different and fun field trips. Some of the field trips include the thrilling Codzilla boat ride, Canobie Lake amusement park, and Water Country. Additionally, every day in the program is a different theme. A few of the themes include Disney day, Twin day, Throwback Thursday which kids can dress up from a different era.

Every day is ensured to be a fun-packed day, filled with different games and activities to play. Spending time with friends and creating new friendships is a must this summer, and the Parks and Rec program
