Speaker Robert A. DeLeo had the honor of throwing out the first pitch at the Winthrop Lodge of Elks softball game with the New England Center for Homeless Veterans team Sunday at the Winthrop Little League Field.
DeLeo made a donation to the cause and conversed with the veterans who showed their appreciation to the Speaker for his efforts on their behalf in this state. DeLeo has been an advocate for veterans’ services throughout his career in the legislature and now that he has risen to the powerful position of Speaker of the House, he has affirmed that commitment. It was great to see the veterans and NECHV Director Bill Hanifan personally thank him for his efforts at this event.
