Honoring Eric

That was nice gesture by Councilor Russell Sanford, who proposed that a citation be presented to departing Winthrop Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Eric Gaynor. Eric will be leaving his position after more than a decade of service to the our town’s business organization. Sanford’s colleagues unanimously approved his motion to honor Eric at an upcoming meeting. The Chamber of Commerce itself will be holding a farewell barbecue to thank Eric for his outstanding leadership of the Chamber.

A lot of people are wondering whether Eric — who has always deflected credit for the success of the Chamber and the outstanding events it holds  onto others — will be making a farewell speech at the Council meeting or the barbecue. We trust that if he does, it will be made with his typical humility and aplomb.
