Little League Scoreboard Dedicated on Sat.

‘A’ Field.

Saturday was a glorious day at the Winthrop Little League “A” field. Past President Dave Leslie made opening remarks then Winthrop Little Leaguers led in the pledge of allegiance. Speaker Bob Deleo introduced 8 year-old Haven Pereira who gave a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem.  Senator Petrucelli unveiled a sign thanking our twenty-year sponsors, past presidents and lifetime members. Speaker Bob DeLeo then presented State House citations to Carol Silverman for her 36 years and Peter Pelligritti for his 55 years of service and unveiled a new sign named Pelley’s Pole.  Tom Glynn, Director at Massport, Speaker Bob DeLeo and Sen. Anthony Petrucelli formally unveiled and turned on the new scoreboard.  The three dignitaries threw first pitches to Matt Stoddard, Nick Drevos and Tyler Rockefeller.  Over 200 kids, parents, sponsors, past presidents and Town Councilors, attended the event.

T-Ball sign ups next week

T-Ball sign ups will be next week Tuesday 5/14 from 5:30pm-7:00pm and Saturday 5/18 from 10:00am-11:30am at the “A” field.

A Division Orioles saw great performances

Nick Deeb got 6 hits and pitched 4 strong innings for his first win of the season. Ryan Buccini went hitting 5 for 8 this week.

B Division Great Pitching Duel

Bobby Hubert and Matt Stoddard were locked in a great pitchers duel. Each had 10 strikeouts. Julian Orioso hit an inside the park homerun and Ty Garcia had a 3 run double in the last inning to provide the margin of victory for the Cubs.

The following players had noted performances this week at the A, B and C levels: Augustino Cherico (HR), Aiden Cash, Joe Hayes, Chris Viscio, James Silva, Gavin Abbott, Matt Skobeloff, Sean Montgomery, Hunter Kennedy, Phelicia Epifania, Michael Carter, Bobby Diaz, Aiden Green.
