Twelve on 12-12-12: Julia Dalton Celebrates a Very Special Day

Julia Dalton is pictured with her parents Brian and Sharon, and her brothers, Warren and Jacob, on the occasion of her twelfth birthday that she celebrated on December 12, 2012.

Julia Dalton celebrated a very special birthday Wednesday on a date that comes along once every century.

Julia, daughter of Brian and Sharon Dalton of Ocean Avenue, turned 12 on December 12, and in this case, it was a numerologist’s dream: 12-12-12.

The Middle School sixth grader realized about four years ago that 12s were going to be wild on Wednesday.

“Since I was about eight,” replied Julie when asked how long in advance she had been anticipating the big day.

“It’s good,” said younger brother Warren, 4.

Older brother Jacob, 13, was equally impressed with his sister’s unique tie to this rare occurrence on the calendar.

“It’s awesome,” said Jacob.

Julie enjoyed a birthday cake with her family and wore a special pink T-shirt that was made to commemorate the once-every-100-years date. She performed in a school play Wednesday night.

Sharon Dalton said the excitement had been building for weeks in the home.

“We’ve known for awhile and that it was going to be a big event and she was really excited,” said Dalton. “She’s a very special girl.”

Brian Dalton noted that the day wouldn’t be duplicated again until December 12, 2112 – 100 years from yesterday, or 1,000 years really, if you  want to be pinpoint accurate.

“I think it’s amazing that you won’t be seeing this date for a long, long time,” said Dalton.

Don’t think that Julie has been just sitting around waiting for Birthday No. 12. She is a busy and active student and athlete. She is a cheerleader for Winthrop Youth Football and plays in Winthrop Youth Soccer on a team coached and sponsored by her father [Dalton Vending]. Jacob was a goalkeeper, defender, and midfielder for the team.

Other members of the Dalton family also have interesting dates for their birthdays. Warren shares his day [Feb. 12] with the sixteenth President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.

Dad Brian was born on Pearl Harbor Day (Dec. 7) His brother was born on Bunker Hill Day (June 18) and his sister was born on Independence Day (July 4). Mom Sharon will celebrate New Year’s Eve and her birthday on Dec. 31. Alas, Jacob has a traditional birth date in October.

Julia almost arrived on her father’s birthday but was five days late, born on December 12, 2000.

Julia has been spending time lately studying ancient Egyptian culture, “how they write, how they read, and how they do their math.” She has been interpreting hieroglyphics.

“On my birthday, she gave me a card using Egyptian symbols,” related Brian Dalton.

“I want to be veterinarian or an archaeologist,” said Julia who is learning how to speak Spanish and other languages.

What was Julie’s favorite gift on 12-12-12?

Perfume by recording star and American Idol judge Nicki Minaj who turned 30 on December 8.

Superintendent of School John Macero sent along his special wishes to Dalton.

“I want to wish her a happy birthday on 12-12-12,” said Macero. “I wonder if her favorite football player is Tom Brady.”
