One Dead, One Faces Charges Following Accident in Hull

An evening boating trip on Boston Harbor turned tragic last weekend, when the 25-foot privateer, being driven by Winthrop resident Lloyd Thompson, struck a moored sailboat in Hull harbor, sending two of his nine passengers overboard and killing one of them.

Regina Mosher, 55 also of Winthrop died at Brigham and Women’s Hospital Sunday after being transported there from South Shore Hospital early Sunday morning with severe injuries from the boat crash.

Also thrown overboard and treated at South Shore Hospital for her injuries was 32-year old Danielle Buharali of Waltham.

Thompson, 39, of 614 Shirley Street in Winthrop, was charged with operating a vessel under the influence of intoxicating liquor and homicide by vessel in the death of Mosher. He was arraigned on Monday in Hingham District Court on the charges and was released on $1,500 bail.

Hull police were the first to respond the scene at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night, after receiving a call about the boat crash in the harbor.
