Janet Finely 

Winthrop Librarian 

Janet S. Finely of Golden Drive, Winthrop died suddenly at home on July 13. She was 68 years old.

Born in North Reading, she was the daughter of the late Ruth and William Mason. A resident of Medford for many years, she moved to Winthrop over 20 years ago. She was employed as a librarian in Medford for several years before becoming the librarian at the Winthrop Public Library.

She was the loving mother of Paige Finley of Medford and Michael Finley and his wife, Lynn of Dracut; the sister of Robert and John Mason; cherished grandmother of Christina, Jacquelyn, Jaime and Jessica and the dear companion of the late John Meehan.

A memorial service was conducted from the Calvary Baptist Church, Lynnfield with arrangements under the direction of the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home, Winthrop. To her online guestbook go to www.caggianofuneralhome.com.

Mary Costigan 

Worked for Boston Veteran’s Services

Mary C. Costigan of Main Street, Winthrop passed away at home on July 15 after a brief illness. She was 82 years old.

Born in Winthrop, she was the beloved daughter of the late Mary (Coombs) and Bernard Costigan. She was a graduate of East Boston High School and moved to Winthrop more than 55 years ago. She worked as a fiduciary for the Veteran’s Services for the City of Boston for many years. She was also a member of the Revere Moose and the Beachmont VFW.
