Strawberry Festival: Get Your Tickets Before Event Sells Out

One of the harbingers of the summer season for generations in Winthrop has been the annual Strawberry Festival sponsored by the Winthrop Improvement and Historical Association.

The festival is held each year on the grounds of the historic Deane Winthrop House and serves as the principal fundraiser by the WIHA for preservation of the Deane Winthrop House.

This year’s festival is set for this Tuesday, June 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets for a bowl of strawberry shortcake and cream are still just $5.00 (now that’s a real bargain!). It is required that tickets be purchased in advance (they will not be sold at the door) and, because each year the event is a sell out, it is advised that they be purchased soon. Tickets may be purchased at the following locations around town: Brown’s Pharmacy, Winthrop Library, Chamber of Commerce, Luna Boutique, Crusty Crumpet Bakery, Woodside Hardware, Samuel’s Pharmacy, and Winthrop Senior Center.

The Strawberry Festival a great way to support the WIHA in its good work of maintaining the Deane Winthrop House. This event is also about enjoying a delicious dessert, and a time for friends and family to get together on a nice summer evening in the place where Deane Winthrop no doubt did with his friends and family on many occasions more than 370 years ago.

In addition, the high school jazz band will be performing again this year to add a festive note to the atmosphere. There also will be some fun raffles, plus the ever popular “spirits table.”
