Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty and three of his officers visited the Pre-Kindergarten morning and afternoon classes of Miss Corinne and Miss Andrea at Fort Banks -William Gorman Elementary School on Tuesday. The purpose of the visit was to give the pre-schoolers a chance to meet the police officers and hear what they do.
They also got a visit from Silly Willy the Clown, who partnered up with the Winthrop Police for the day and got the chance to climb inside of a real police cruiser and activate the sirens.
“We were invited to the school by the two teachers and we thought it would be a great way to meet with the little ones and kind of let them find out what we do,†explained Chief Delehanty, who brought officers Dawne Armitstead, Sean Perrin and James Freeman with him, as well as Silly Willy.
