A contingent of Winthrop High track and field athletes competed in Friday’s Eastern Mass. Division 4 Meet held at North Reading High School.
On the girls’ side, Christina Russo ran in the 200 dash and finished in 16th place in a time of 27.84. Teammate Lexi Vaccaro finished in 21st position in the 200 with a time of 28.24. Lexi also competed in the triple jump, ending up in 20th position with a landing of 32 feet, 6 inches.
Alyssa Mackey ran in the 400 dash and grabbed 16th spot in a clocking of 63.84. Jordan Griffiths finished in 23rd position in the 800 in 2:35.24.
Two Lady Vikings competed in the 400 meter hurdles. Amy Sena finished 18th in 71.84 and teammate Carly O’Keefe was right behind in 19th in 72.84.
Naomi Meggison jumped 15-9 for a ranking of 14th in the long jump. The Winthrop relay teams acquitted themselves well, with the 4 x 100 quartet taking eighth place in 53.34 and the 4 x 400 foursome finishing in 14th in a time of 4:28.24.
For the boys, the lone entrant in the meet, which requires an athlete to achieve a predetermined time or distance, was Jordan Ekaidat, who grabbed eighth place in the 400Â with a clocking of 51.84 and long jumped to 18th spot with a leap of 20-4.25.
