Boys soccer team shows improvement

The Winthrop High boys soccer team had a mixed week, defeating Shawsheen Tech, 2-1, but falling to Revere, 4-1. However, in both contests WHS head coach Pasquale D’Amore saw a lot of positive signs as his team prepares to head into the state tournament next week.

Marco Bove reached the back of the net in both games and Joe D’Amore scored against Shawsheen.

“The team is playing very well and has improved tremendously since the beginning of the season,” said D’Amore. “Both games, especially the Shawsheen game, were exciting and hard fought. We battled Revere evenly through the first half, but let up a bit in the second half.”

The Vikings will close out their regular season tomorrow (Friday) at Saugus.
