A large contingent of freshmen from the Winthrop High girls track team competed in the Northeastern Conference Freshman/Sophomore Meet held last Friday in Lynn with a number of Lady Vikings earning ribbons for finishing among the top six in their individual events.
Jessica Dowson came home as the NEC champion for her age group with a clocking of 74.2 in the 400 meter run.
Other Lady Viking finishers in the top six were: Alyssa Mackey took second in the long jump with a leap of 15-1.75; Gina Giuliano took fifth in the triple jump with a landing of 28-7; and Jordan Griffiths took fifth in the mile in 5:58.
