Mallios says OK to Saint A’s

Winthrop High basketball star Dino Mallios has given his verbal commitment to attend St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH.

Mallios will begin his senior year in September. He will enter the final season of his basketball career with more than 1,000 points.

Head coach David Brown said he was happy about the news. Brown, who played college basketball at Westfield State, estimated that Mallios’ four-year full scholarship package is worth $180,000.

“I’m very excited for Dino,” said Brown. “It’s great that he will be given the opportunity to play college basketball at such an outstanding school. That’s a significant scholarship, and everyone in the Winthrop High basketball program is happy for Dino.”
