Polls will be open in Winthrop for the state primary election on Tuesday, Sept. 1 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
There are several contested elections on the Democratic and Republican ballots, with the Democratic senate primary between incumbent Ed Markey and Congressman Seth Moulton expected to drive turnout on Tuesday.
In Winthrop on the Democratic ballot, incumbent state Representative Jeff Turco is facing a primary challenge from Leeallen Matthew Meyer.
Voters will also have the choice between Markey and Moulton for US Senate.
Other contested races on the Democratic ballot include the U.S. Congress seat held by Katherine Clark, who is challenged on the ballot by Jonathan Paz and Tarik Samman; and Suffolk County District Attorney, where incumbent Kevin Hayden is facing a challenge from Linda Champion and former District Attorney Rachael Rollins.

Incumbent Governor Maura Healey and Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll are both unopposed in the primary, as is state Senator Lydia Edwards, Attorney General Andrea Campbell, Secretary of State William Galvin, Treasurer Deborah Goldberg, Auditor Diana DiZoglio, and Register of Probate Stephanie Everett.
There’s a lighter ballot on the Republican side. The only contested race is for governor, where Michael Minogue and Brian Shortsleeve are on the ballot.
Also on the ballot are John Deaton for U.S. Senate, Shawn Oliver for Lt. Governor, Michael Walsh for Attorney General, and Elizabeth Dionne for Treasurer. There are no Republican candidates for the remainder of the positions on the ballot.
All registered voters in Precincts 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 will vote at the Old Middle School.
Voters in Precinct 4 will cast their ballots at O’Connell Hall at 9 Golden Drive.
