Fiorentina “Tina” Freda
She will be remembered for her loving heart, joyful spirit, and the countless lives she touched

Fiorentina “Tina” (D’Elia) Freda of East Boston, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026. She was 77 years old.

Born on March 13, 1948, in Salerno, Italy, Tina was the beloved daughter of the late Salvatore and Rosa D’Elia. In 1967, she immigrated to the United States with her parents and brother, settling in East Boston, where she built a life rooted in family, faith, and community.

Tina was the devoted wife of the late Pasquale Freda, with whom she shared 54 loving years of marriage after meeting and marrying in 1969. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, music, and endless food.

She was a proud and loving mother to Dorina Shea and her husband, John, Rosemarie Hinchion and her husband, Keith and Frank Freda and his wife, Gina, all of Winthrop. Tina was a cherished grandmother to Ariana, Alissa, Gabriella, Stephen, Nicholas, Sofia, and Amelia, all of whom were the joy of her life. She was the dear sister of Gerard D’Elia and the late Anthony D’Elia and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Tina worked as a skilled seamstress and took great pride in her craft. She was deeply devoted to Padre Pio and lived her faith daily through kindness and generosity. An avid crocheter and an exceptional cook, Tina showed love through food—always happiest when feeding others and gathering family and friends around her table.

Known for her infectious laugh, love of singing, and enjoyment of being around people, Tina brought warmth wherever she went. She loved trips to the casino, cherished her music—especially Engelbert Humperdinck—and found her greatest fulfillment in raising her children and grandchildren.

Fiorentina “Tina” Freda will be remembered for her loving heart, joyful spirit, and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Family and friends will honor Tina’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, East Boston, on Saturday, February 14th from 9 to 11 a.m. before leaving in procession to St. John the Evangelist Church / St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Winthrop for a funeral mass starting at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with Tina being laid to rest with her husband, Pasquale in Winthrop Cemetery, Belle Isle Cemetery.
