Congratulations, Butch Martucci!

We wish to take a moment to offer our congratulations to Winthrop High girls head hockey coach Anthony “Butch” Martucci, who earned his 200th career victory this past weekend.

Martucci has been at the helm of the Lady Viking hockey program for 14 seasons, nurturing it from its initial years as a nascent program (when Winthrop High initially formed a co-op team with Lynn English and Saugus) to its status today as one of the premier girls’ high school teams in the state.

The Winthrop program’s success year-in and year-out, despite competing in Division 1 against larger schools, including the Catholic schools, has been truly remarkable and is a testament to the dedication with which Butch has imbued his Lady Viking teams.

We know we join with all of our fellow supporters of Winthrop High athletics, as well as the dozens of young women whom Butch has coached over the years, in recognizing Butch for achieving this significant milestone.
