Company with local roots named one of  fastest growing U.S. companies

Nico Ruggieri works with local companies to grow their businesses, but it’s the growth of his company that’s getting attention these days.

The company, Pinpoint Payments Inc., which provides payment processing solutions for local retailers and eCommerce, was named to the Inc. 5000 list of the Fastest growing U.S. companies for the fifth year in a row. Ruggieri co-founded the company with partners Ben Grossman and Gilboa Merdinger. He works locally with Mark Shannon.

“This is a competitive field, but we are really focused on working with local businesses that want to expand within their community,” said Ruggieri of Winthrop.

The company started with a focus on fraud prevention for businesses and expanded into payment processing based on the needs of the companies they worked with.

“People don’t realize how much of a difference having the right payment processing solution can make,” Ruggieri said. “It’s all about customer service and making things easier and safer for your customers.”

Shannon, a Winthrop native, said the difference is having a focus on what local businesses need.

“We have a strong community in this area. We’re focused on helping businesses here build on that,” he said.

Pinpoint’s customers include Winthrop Pro Shop, McCormick Flowers, Cimino Meat Market, A&V Nails, Kirby Funeral Home and Caggiano Funeral Home, and, Swetts Liquors.

The company recently added a comprehensive Point of Sale system, PeakPOS, that can be customized to meet the needs of stores, restaurants, salons, and more.
