Local Students Earn Academic Honors

Sullivan Named to College of the Holy Cross’ Fall 2020 Dean’s List

Aviana Sullivan of Winthrop, was named to the College of the Holy Cross Fall 2020 Dean’s List. A member of the Class of 2024, Sullivan is majoring in Undeclared.

Sullivan was among more than 1,453 students named to the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2020-21 academic year.

To qualify, students must pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The College of the Holy Cross, in Worcester, Mass., is among the nation’s leading liberal arts institutions. A highly selective, four-year, exclusively undergraduate college of 3,100 students, Holy Cross is renowned for offering a rigorous, personalized education in the Jesuit, Catholic tradition. Local Residents Receive Academic Honors

 Northeastern University is pleased to recognize those students who distinguish themselves academically during the course of the school year. The following local students were recently named to the University’s dean’s list for the Fall semester, which ended in December 2020.

* Winthrop resident Samuel Yarrow, majoring in business administration

* Winthrop resident Andrew Angulo, majoring in electrical engineering

* Winthrop resident Zara Powell, majoring in environmental & sustain sciences

* Winthrop resident Elizabeth Collins, majoring in mechanical engineering

To achieve the dean’s list distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.5 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C- during the course of their college career. Each student receives a letter of commendation and congratulation from their college dean.

Local Students Make the UMass Amherst Fall 2020 Dean’s List

In order to qualify, an undergraduate student must receive a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a four-point scale.

Two Winthrop siblings have both been named to the Dean’s List at their respective colleges for Fall 2020.

Richard D’Amelio attends Bentley University, and his sister  Sage D’Amelio attends UMass Amherst, Isenberg School of Management.
