WHS Sports COVID Guidelines

As Winthrop High School is set to begin Athletic Contests for the 2020-2021 Winter Season, school officials wanted to make the parent/guardian’s, staff and community aware of guidelines and limitations currently in place due to COVID-19.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, Winthrop High School will be limiting the number of spectators allowed at the following athletic events:

Girls and Boys Hockey at Larsen Rink

Girls and Boys Basketball at Winthrop High School

Gymnastics at The Winthrop Gymnastics Academy

For Winthrop High School Athletic Events, we will only be allowing two household members per student-athlete to attend athletic events/contests. No spectators will be allowed at away events or Winthrop High School practices. The events will not be open to the general public or any other person(s) who have not been authorized as event workers or Athletic Administrators or other essential workers related to the event.

Knowing the tremendous amount of support the staff, families and community members have shown over the years for Winthrop Athletics we understand this is not ideal however the safety of our school and community remains our priority. We are very excited to inform you that we have successfully implemented the ability to livestream the home events on our High School YouTube page to give everyone the opportunity to watch and support our students!

Channel Name: Winthrop Vikings

In addition to the Vikings Livestream option there will also be a list of all Northeastern Conference schools and ways to access their live streaming platforms to view away contests found on the WPS Athletic homepage. Please understand that livestreaming is a new feature to Winthrop High School. We will do our best to air the events as smoothly as possible, but unforeseen issues may arise that we will address as quickly as possible.
