His Family was his Pride and Joy

Frederick J. Ferrara, 81, of Coconut Creek, Florida, formerly of Winthrop, passed away on Feb. 16 surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous fight with liver cancer.

He worked with his dad at a young age learning the trade of construction in the family business, Ferrara Contracting, and decided to leave and venture on his own starting Fred Ferrara Contracting and was very successful.

His grandmother and his school teacher said his hands were gifted. He loved German Shepherds, having at least five all with the same name, Bruno. He was funny and loved his family, they were his pride and joy. Family was everything to him.

He was the devoted and loving husband of Carolle Ferrara for 58 years and the cherished father of Christine Ferrara Oliveira and her husband, Cisco and Frederick Ferrara, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, all of Coconut Creek, Florida and Denise Star Gavin of New Hampshire; cherished grandfather of Anthony Ferrara Oliveira, Makaela Ferrara and step-grandfather to Cisco Oliveira, Jr. and Tamitsa Lauranco; dear brother of Frank Ferrara and his wife, Ann and Marie Ferrara Tucci, all of Winthrop and brother in law of Elaine Ferrara of South Yarmouth. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Ferrara and his parents, Anna G. (Finn) and Anthony R. Ferrara. He is also survived by many precious and loving nieces and nephews who he made an impact in their lives with his love.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Saturday, March 14 from 9 to 10 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the church immediately following the visitation at 10 a.m. Committal will be private.
