Aaron Halpern

Longtime entrepreneur and business owner in carpet cleaning industry

Aaron J. Halpern of Winthrop, formerly of Wareham, passed away on Nov. 13. He was 67 years old.

Aaron was an entrepreneur and business owner in the carpet cleaning industry for many years. From 2006 until 2011, he was the cleaning manager for the Cottage Park Yacht Club in Winthrop.

The beloved husband of Sally E. (Rascicot) Halpern, he was born in Boston, the cherished son of the late Isadore and Selma (Landa) Halpern.

He was the devoted father of Michelle A. Lento and her husband, Robert of Winthrop and Joel M. Halpern and his wife, Dawn, of Fall River; adored grandfather of Isaiah, Maxwell, Isabella and Christian Halpern; dear brother of Edward Halpern of Brockton, Judith Keone of Needham, Bobby-Ann Rabonivtz of Hull and Mary Ditsch of Roslindale. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at the Temple Tifereth Israel, 93 Veterans Road, Winthrop on Sunday, Nov. 19, at  noon. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. The family will receive condolences following the service from 2 to 4 p.m. at 36 Waldemar Avenue, Winthrop.

Mary Sirianni

Lifelong Winthrop resident

Mary E. Sirianni of Winthrop St., Winthrop passed away at the Boston Medical Center on Nov. 13, 2017. She was 92 years old. Born in Winthrop, she was the beloved daughter of the late Grace (Connolly) and William E. Moriarty. A lifelong resident of Winthrop she was a graduate of Winthrop High School.

She was the devoted wife of the late Ralph Sirianni and the loving mother of Kris Mazzone of Winthrop. Dear sister of Nonny Hayes and her husband Henry of Winthrop and the late Elaine Petrillo, Moe Moriarty, John Moriarty and Jean Floyd. Cherished grandmother of Krisy Mercer and her husband Thomas and Jamie Mazzone. Great-grandmother of Ashley and Khloe. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 from 10 a.m. to noon followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at noon. Interment to follow the service in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Robert Hanlon

Former Cottage Park Yacht Club member and private pilot

Robert J. Hanlon of Lincoln Street, Winthrop passed away at home on Nov. 12. He was 94 years old. Born in Cambridge,  the beloved son of the late Mary (Schwartz) and William A. Hanlon, he has been a resident of Winthrop since 1932.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and reached the rank of corporal. After his honorable discharge, he went on to work as an engineer for the military. He was also a former member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club and  a private pilot owning his own plane.

He was the devoted husband of the late Lucille E. (Ratto) and the loving father of Robert Hanlon of Methuen, Diane Davis of Winthrop and Peter Hanlon of Winthrop. He was the dear brother of Dorothy Turner of California, Edward Hanlon of Wilmington, Arthur Hanlon of New Hampshire, Paul Hanlon of California and the late Albert, Hubert and William Hanlon and is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Tuesday, Nov. 14, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Rev. Peter Graziano celebrated the mass and offered prayers at the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
