The opening of the new Winthrop Middle/High School building serves as a triumph for all who came together and worked so hard to make this wonderful day a reality. It took years of organizing, planning, holding meetings, and ultimately the town voting to go forward with this outstanding project.
It’s a great time to be a student and a parent of a student in the Winthrop school system, knowing that their child will attend a modern, state-of-the-art, fully-accessible school building that will maximize the educational experience. There are so many people who were instrumental in bringing this amazing project to fruition. The Winthrop School Building Assistance Committee, led by Dave Dockendorf and Marylou Osborne, certainly deserves praise for its years of work on the project.
We know how excited the leader of our schools, Supt. John Macero, is about the opening of the Winthrop Middle/High School and the many exciting programs — not to mention the new auditorium that will benefit students in the Drama Society — that are possible with the additional academic space along with the gymnasiums that complement this facility so well.
Congratulations, Winthrop, on a this bright new day for all of our students.
