Anthony Sacco

Of Revere, formerly of East Boston

Anthony Sacco of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died peacefully surrounded by his loving and devoted family on February 14.

He was the beloved husband of the late Rose (DeLeo)Sacco; devoted father of Karen Bryant and her husband, Frederick of Winthrop and Susan Guarino and her husband, John of Revere; dear brother of the late Peter J. Sacco Jr.; cherished grandfather of Sean and his companion, Liz Ryan, Connor and his wife, Maya and Victoria. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor Anthony’s life by gathering on Thursday, February 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St., (Orient Heights) East Boston and again on Friday morning at 8:30 before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, East Boston for a Funeral Mass celebrating Anthony’s life at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with Anthony being laid to rest with Military Honors with his beloved wife, Rose in Woodlawn Cemetery. May they both rest in peace.

Patricira Magrath

Long time proprietor of Pattie’s Place hair salon

Patricia A. Magrath of Lunenburg, formerly of Winthrop, passed away peacefully at home on February 15. She was 77 years old.

She was born and resided in Winthrop for over 71 years and was the beloved daughter of the late Gertrude E. (Wells) and Herman J. McEachern. For many years she was the proprietor of Pattie’s Place, a hair salon in Winthrop Center. She enjoyed reading, crosswords and was an avid animal lover.

She was the loving mother of Linda M. MacNeil and her husband, Raymond of Holderness, New Hampshire, Patricia A. Magrath of Lunenburg and Donna J. Keough and her husband, Stephen of Winthrop; the dear sister of Eileen Redican of Vacaville, California, Robert McEachern and his companion Sandy Graustein of Malden and the late Jeaneatte Murray of Auburndale, Florida. She was the cherished grandmother of Kelly Swegart and her husband, Dan, Lindsey MacNeil, Brian MacNeil, Kristen MacNeil, Stephen Keough and Sean Keough and great grandmother of Liam and Colin Swegart.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home, Winthrop on Sunday, February 21from 2 to 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 5 p,m. Commital will be private.

William Cohen

Self employed cabinet maker

William Cohen of North Andover, formerly of Winthrop, passed away February 10 after a long battle with Cancer. He was 71 years old.

Born in Winthrop on July 6, 1944, the son of the late Muriel (Freedman) and Jack Cohen, Mr. Cohen was educated in the Winthrop and Boston school systems and graduated from Boston Trade High School. For many years he was a self employed cabinet maker. In his free time, he enjoyed visiting antique stores, honing his craft and relaxing with friends and family.

Mr. Cohen was predeceased by his sister, Janice Brenner, who passed away recently.  He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon (Fenton) Cohen of North Andover, four sons: Jay and his wife, Leeann Cohen of Revere, Douglas and his wife, Aimee Cohen of Winthrop, David and his wife, April Cohen of Winthrop and Benjamin Cohen of North Andover, a brother, Alan and his wife, Judy Cohen of Marston Mills, a sister, Roberta Cohen and her husband, Perry NeRantzis of Silver Spring, Maryland; six grandchildren: Evelyn, Shawn, Sara, Jackson, Joshua and Alexander as well as many nieces and nephews.

At Mr. Cohen’s request, all funeral services will be private and at the convenience of his family. Arrangements are by the H.L. Nessie (Gertrude) Kepnes

Of Florida, formerly of Winthrop

Nessie (Gertrude) Kepnes, 94, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2016 in Lake Worth, FL., formerly of Winthrop, MA, daughter of the late William and Celia Score. Beloved wife of the late Pershing Kepnes with whom she shared 48 years of marriage. Mother of Barry Kepnes and his wife Lynn of Winthrop, Paul Kepnes of Marblehead, Robert Kepnes of Lake Worth, FL, Grandmother of Lindsey Kepnes Joffe, Heidi, Matthew, and Rachel Kepnes, great-grandmother to Charlie and Teagan Joffe. Loving sister to Bernice Friedman of Scotchplains, NJ and Sylvia Blumsack of Lake Worth, FL. She was predeceased by her brothers Fred, David and Orrin Score.
