Winthrop Playmakers to Present the Rocky Horror Show: Alive on Stage

The Winthrop Playmakers are proud to reveal their next production, Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show: Alive on Stage.  The smash-hit rock ‘n roll musical will be done as a live dinner theatre show Thursdays and Fridays, October 9 & 10 and 16 & 17, at Cottage Park Yacht Club, 76 Orlando Avenue, Winthrop, MA.  Doors open at 7:00 with the show at 8:00 pm.  Tickets are $34.50 per person and include dinner.  Tables of eight may be reserved in advance for $265.00 by calling 617-539-1175 or email: info@winthropplaymakers.com.

This is not actors performing in front of a film, it’s the complete stage version with a fully live, in-your-face performance with a professional band. This cult classic horror/sci-fi parody takes place on a dark and stormy night, as innocent sweethearts Brad and Janet find themselves stranded on a lonely road. Weathering the storm in the mysterious mansion of Dr. Frank N. Furter, the young couple’s lives are turned upside down. The beloved musical, which inspired the long-running midnight movie, features classic songs such as “Sweet Transvestite”, “Science Fiction Double Feature”, “Damn It, Janet” and, of course, the pelvic-thrusting “Time Warp” (it’ll drive you insane).

The show is intended for mature audiences as the production deals heavily in adult themes.  Props for audience participation will be provided, nothing else will be allowed in.

The Rocky Horror Show is directed by Eric & Kelli Gaynor, with musical director Ben Discipio, choreographers Kim Misci & Tara Leary, stage manager Anthony Internicola,

and produced by Lauren Amaru & Bill Thompson. The cast includes Matt Honan as the Narrator, Nick Raponi as Frank N. Furter, Lauren Amaru as Magenta, Patrick Harris as Riff Raff, Jaime Montesano as Columbia, Jason Hair-Wynn as Rocky, Jonathan Barron as Eddie, Billy Thompson as Dr. Scott, Mark Damon as Brad, Madeline McCord as Janet, Melissa MacNeil and Amanda Arruda as the Usherettes, featuring Transylvanians Kristy Discipio, Laura Edwards, Samantha Hamilton, Tara Leary, Christina Lonardo, Briana McLean, Grace Meidanis, Kim Misci, Elyse Seltzer and Barbara Souza, with Kelli Gaynor and Christian Webster on vocals.
