Florence “Flo” St. Pierre

Worked as Assistant Secretary to J. Edgar Hoover and Later for State of Massachusetts

Florence “Flo” St. Pierre passed away at the Ray Hickey Hospice House on Sunday, March 9 surrounded by her family and friends. She was 98 years old.

She was born on November 13, 1915 to Theodore and Lillian Donahoe in Boston and attended Boston public schools.

After graduation, Flo moved to Washington D.C. to seek employment. She began work for the FBI and eventually became an assistant secretary to J. Edgar Hoover, later working with the State of Massachusetts as secretary to the Commissioner of Housing and Development.

Flo was a lifelong member of the Emblem Club and was a past President and Supreme Marshall.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Cascade Park Care Center, PeaceHealth Medical Center and the Ray Hickey Hospice House for their care and dedication.

Flo is survived by her son, George (Shirlene) St. Pierre; three grandchildren, Lisa, Justin and Nicholas; three great-grandchildren, Joycelyn, Blaine and Keegan and two sisters, Dorothy and Jane.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al and her daughter, Jacqueline.

A viewing will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Wednesday, March 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 6600 Highland Dr., Vancouver, WA 98661.

Carole Newhook

Longtime Liberty Market Bookkeeper

Carole A. Newhook of Bowdoin Street, Winthrop passed away at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere on March 6 after a brief illness. She was 73 years old.

Born in Winthrop, the beloved daughter of the late William “Buck” and Florence Thorne, she was a lifelong resident of Winthrop and was employed for many years as a bookkeeper for Liberty Market.
She was the devoted wife of the late Robert J. Newhook and the loving mother of Robert Newhook and his wife, Leslie of Winthrop, Thomas Newhook and his wife, Marie of Saugus and William Newhook and his wife, Marie of East Boston; the dear sister of Margie Libby of Ohio, Patricia Burrill of Florida and the late Marylou Raymond, Florence Gaudet, William Thorne and Barbara Thorne. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 15 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10 a.m. Committal will be private. Aleesha DiPierro

Of Malden, formerly of Revere

Aleesha M. DiPierro of Malden, formerly of Revere, died on March 8. She was 28 years old.

She was the devoted mother of Jaydalena Ramos, Jayanna Faith Leone and Kayden DiPierro; loving daughter of Sherry Murray of Revere and Girolamo “Jerry” DiPierro of Winthrop; beloved granddaughter of Annmarie and William Kulda of Revere and Sabino and Garciela DiPierro of Winthrop; dear sister of Leonard and Shayne Cambria, both of Revere and is also survived by many cherished aunts and uncles.

Family and friends will honor Aleesha’s life by gathering today, Thursday, March 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St. (Orient Heights) East Boston and again at 8:30 Friday morning before leaving in procession to the Sacred Heart Church, Brooks Street for a Funeral Mass in celebration of Aleesha’ life at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with Aleesha being laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
