DelVento Elected vice President Of Winthrop Town Council

Nicholas DelVento, who has been a member of the Winthrop Town Council since its inception, has been elected as vice president of the nine-member council.

DelVento, who was re-elected without opposition as Precinct 3 Councilor in November, received a unanimous vote from his colleagues at the first council meeting of the year Jan. 6 following the Winthrop Swearing-In Ceremonies at the Cummings School.

Council President Peter Gill congratulated DelVento on his leadership position.

“Nick does a great job on the Council,” said Gill. “He’s very dedicated at what he does and he’s very dependable. I look forward to continuing to work with him in the years ahead.”

DelVento, 51, is serving as vice president for the first time.

DelVento said he is pleased with the positive direction that the town is heading as the new year begins.

“I’m very excited where the town is right now,” said DelVento. “For the first time in the past seven or eight years, we actually have some money. We’re making progress. I think we’re getting things to move very efficiently in a very
